StarBets.ie tipsters in the money again
May 14th, 2012 by EditorIt has been another few days of success for the tipsters on StarBets.ie as our team proved they provide a fantastic service and some big-priced winners. It was good to have Derek Foley back on board and he delivered with Zach Johnson getting in the money with joint second in the Players Championship at 55-1.
The soccer boys had a good weekend, too. Michael Hughes had plenty of picks come up, among them a Swansea win at 13-5 over Liverpool, the same price for a Bolton-Stoke draw, Celtic -2 at 5-2, a Lazio win at 15-8 and PSG -2 at 4-1. Laurence McCormack weighed in with QPR +2 at 17-10, Under 2.5 goals in Sunderland-Man Utd at 13-10 and Over 4.5 goals in Wigan-Wolves at a tasty 4-1.
As usual the racing boys have seen their picks pass the winning post first several times. Gary O’Brien had a fine Sunday with three wins at Killarney (Shamkhal 5-1, Dara Tango 6-4, Shot From The Hip 7-2) and a five-timer at Leopardstown (Famous Name 1-5, Yellow Rosebud 13-2, Light Heavy 15-8, Sharalam 13-8, Whipless 3-1).
Saturday was the day for Ray Flanagan who picked both American Spin (11-1) and Red Merlin (13-2) at Haydock, the pair also making Ray’s EW Lucky 15 worthwhile. Steve Hughes was also on Red Merlin. Great minds and all that.
Last but not least, Robert Catterson was on form with his Saturday night greyhound picks, claiming the honours in the final of the Betfair 600 with Kingo (6-1) plus calling a handful of correct races at the Wimbledon meeting.
All in all it pays to follow StarBets.ie for the top tips going.

Fantasy GAA update
May 12th, 2012 by EditorTHE weather might not feel like it – but the summer started at the weekend!
Sligo got off to convincing opening with a comfortable Connacht SFC win in New York and their performance led to a three-way tie at the top of the weekly Irish Daily Star Fantasy Fundraiser GAA competition leaderboard.
McHugh Express, Eastern Promise and DRIMARONE all picked up 77 points thanks to superb performances from Stephen Coen, Adrian Marren and Mark Breheny.
Mickos men remain top of the overall leaderboard with no change in Clonaslee/St Manman’s position at the head of the club table either.

Will still setting the standard in Betfair
May 5th, 2012 by EditorWe’re down to the last 12 greyhounds in this year’s Betfair 600 and what a competition we’ve had so far. And the great thing is that most of the leading contenders from the outset are still there. And that makes tonight’s two semi-final contests pretty difficult to weigh up.
The betting suggests just how open the first semi-final is tonight, with Bet365 going as big as 2/1 Tibetan Skies, but even at that price, he looks poor value. Yes, he was good when bouncing back last week but he won’t get the luck in-running in a much better contest tonight and looks unlikely to win. In fact, he may not even qualify for next week’s final.
Razldazl George has the look of a greyhound who is just about to return to his very best so I wouldn’t put you off the 3/1 on offer with Paddy Power. However, the best value of all must lie with Monleek Force at 9/2 with Powers. Unbeaten in the competition so far, Monleek Force is still very much underrated by the looks of things and given his all round pace, especially his early pace, he gets the call ahead of Razldazl George and Kingo.
Tonight’s second semi-final features one of my outright fancies in Razldazl Will but he will take his place in one hell of a contest later on. Boxed in the middle of Rockchase Bullet and Slick Seattle, Dolores Ruth’s charge can’t afford any slip-ups come 10.15pm and while I still fancy him to win the stake, he’s poor value at evens to win tonight. So in looking for the value, I’m split between Slick Seattle, who beat ‘Will’ last week, and Crossfield Star, who at 16/1 with Boylesports, offers mighty value. I can see both figuring at the finish but perhaps Slick Seattle might just be the way to go in this second semi-final.
Overall, it’s probably fair to say that tonight’s card at headquarters is the best meeting of the year so far because we also have the second round of the Larry Dunne Open 525 and the final of the Puppy Oaks to get our teeth into. The opening heat in the second round of the Larry Dunne Open 525 features the well named Frankel, who is a very big price at 9/2 with Bet365.
All eyes will be on Droopys Cain in heat two and with Priceless Spark is now a non-runner, the hot favourite should oblige with ease. Bling Bling Buzz looks to have been given the best of the draw in heat three so the 7/4 on offer with Paddy Power looks fair about Owen McKanna’s smart sort while Tyrur Big Mike can get the better of the early pacers in the concluding heat. Starting in trap four should be ideal for one of Ireland’s most loved greyhounds and the 11/10 with Powers looks possibly the best bet of the night.
In the Healthcare & Transport Service Puppy Oaks final, Airforce Diva will be expected to deliver for favourite backers but her lack of early pace may cost her here so preference goes for Tantallons Kay instead.
And we can’t forget the English Greyhound Derby, where Dolores Ruth completed a fine double last night with Razldazl Rioga and Razldazl Bugatti. Tonight at Wimbledon should see at least two Irish winners with Barefoot Allstar (4/5) and Razldazl Jayfkay expected to deliver (4/9). But a couple of other Irish raiders worth siding with are Peter Cronin’s first round winner Bombolini, who’s as big as 7/2 in heat 10, and Judicial Ruling (5/4), whose early pace can see him prove victorious in heat 11.
And on the outright front, well I’ve been very keen on the chances of Barefoot Allstar since his Scottish Derby success. He’s still as big as 20/1 and I’d be very surprised if he wasn’t there on final night. Razldazl Jayfkay is clearly the obvious contender from Dolores Ruth’s kennels but his two kennel companions interest me much more and Razldazl Rioga and Razldazl Bugatti, both impressive last night, are very worthy challengers at 25/1 and 33/1 respectively. In fact, I wouldn’t in anyway be surprised if all three of my outright fancies made it to the English Greyhound Derby final on May 26th.

PokerStars Mobile is now available to download and play on a wide range of smartphone handsets and tablets, including Apple’s iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, as well as many Android phones and tablet computers.
The poker game app will enable players across Ireland and Northern Ireland to play both free and real money games on their mobile device at any time.
“PokerStars Mobile is more than just the migration of the existing PokerStars game product to the mobile platform,” said Jeffrey Haas, PokerStars Director of New Platforms.
“It’s an intentional product designed specifically for mobile and tablet devices, and the different ways people play games on them. This is the best authentic poker experience available for mobile devices today.”
All mobile players will join the full PokerStars global player pool, with no separation between mobile and desktop players allowing you to play any game whenever you want.

I plan to play all the upcoming UKIPT events and will now be able to play some poker when travelling to or from a tournament.”
One unique aspect of the PokerStars Mobile offering is the multi-tabling user experience for mobile, allowing players to easily join several tables at the same time, with intelligent auto-switch technology and ‘flick navigation’ to ensure that mobile players never miss a hand.
Just like the desktop software, the PokerStars Mobile game lobby has filters that allow players to find all of the available games quickly, along with player and tournament search functions.

StarBets.ie racking up the winners
May 3rd, 2012 by EditorThe top tipping team at StarBets.ie have been on form over the past few days. Gary O’Brien has been his usual dead-eyed self with his Irish racing tips. Misty Lane (9-2) at Dundalk last night was the latest in a long line of successes for the Voice of Irish Racing. Equity Swap (9-2) was one of four winners for Gary at Navan on Sunday. And that followed on the back of a fine Punchestown, when despite the poor weather, cancelled races and surprise results, he still came out with nine winners over the Festival.
Gary has been backed up by Donn McClean, Steve Hughes and Ray Flanagan. Donn gave punters the value on Realt Dubh (16-1 EW) before the punters came for it on the Tuesday at Punchestown. Ray found Commitment (2-1) yesterday, following on from Dancers Dilemma (4-6) on Tuesday and Refractor (8-1) on Monday. Steve weighed in with an 8-1 shot of his own on Tuesday – Sulis Minerva doing the business.
But it’s not all about the racing on StarBets. Kevin Egan with his GAA tips and Robert Catterson on the dogs are both worth following. In soccer Mark McCadden was spot on with his prediction for Manchester City to beat their great rivals 1-0 at 9-1. Michael Hughes covers the football beat too and just last night he called Over 3.5 goals in Spirs-Bolton at 2-1 and tipped Lecce to beat the handicap at Serie A leaders Juventus at 7-5. At the weekend he called both rugby Heineken Cup semi-finals right, calling Ulster to win but Edinburgh to beat the handicap. He’s also had wins in tennis and cricket lately.
And last, but not least comes ‘The Arrow’. Our ace darts tipster has an incredible knack of finding the correct scores in the McCoys Premier League Darts matches and last Thursday he tipped Phil Taylor to beat Simon Whitlock 8-3 at odds of 9-2. It was one of five winning tips for our man. Thank goodness the darts is back on tonight.

Bet of the Century?
May 1st, 2012 by EditorFollowing last night’s Manchester derby which put City ahead of their great rivals in the Premier League table, bet365 have astonishingly gone 7-4 that the title will be won on goal difference.
United play Swansea and Sunderland in their last two games, City go against Newcastle and QPR in their final two games and surely both sides will put up maximum points. The Newcastle trip for City seems the most likely stumbling point, but buoyant City will surely throw everything at it now – and the Toon Army will need to come forward and win so that will help Roberto Mancini’s men.
So 7-4 for the title to be won on goal difference – as crazy as Mario Balotelli.

Where next for Guardiola
April 28th, 2012 by Editorbet365 have opened a market on Pep Guardiola’s next permanent job after he announced his departure from Barcelona on Friday. Spokesman Steve Freeth “Once Pep has recharged his batteries he may fancy a crack at the English Premier League. Let’s be honest, there are bound to be a few interested!”
You could get 14-1 about him being the next Chelsea boss on Wednesday, but that is now 3-1, while the 5-1 about Manchester United seems unlikely. The 11-2 about Arsenal is more believable but Arsene Wenger shows no sign of going, while Manchester City could be the key at 6-1. I do like the 16-1 Liverpool. It is seen as a huge job around Europe, there is enough money to spend to give him something to work with and the philosophy of football of Anfield fits in nicely with Guardiola’s own. One to watch.
Pep Guardiola’s Next Permanent Job
Chelsea 3/1
Man Utd 5/1
Arsenal 11/2
Man City 6/1
Barcelona 10/1
England 12/1
Inter 12/1
Liverpool 16/1
Juventus 16/1
Spurs 25/1
Real Madrid 66/1
