It was a 2-0 defeat to the Serbians that kicked off Kerr’s reign of the tiny island grouping. Has he done enough since that match nearly 15 months ago to pull off a shock?

There is no doubt that the former Ireland boss has transformed the minnows into one of the more uncomfortable low-ranked teams to meet.

And that was highlighted only last month when they were seconds away from opening their Euro 2012 qualifiers with an away win in Estonia.

After taking a 28th minute lead they held out until injury-time, before conceding twice in the dying moments to lose in heartbreaking fashion.

That performance was no fluke – as only France have managed to inflict real damage on the Faroes under Kerr. Les Bleus won 5-0 at home but that was after a scrappy 1-0 win in Torshavn.

Austria won 3-1 in Graz last September but four days later Kerr masterminded a historic 2-1 win over Lithuania – their first competitive victory since the 2002 World Cup qualifiers.

Romania (3-1) and Iceland (2-0) also claimed wins over the Faroes, who claimed a 0-0 friendly draw in June away to Luxembourg before their last-gasp defeat to Estonia.

Can the Dubliner’s adopted country bounce back and stun Serbia? Probably not. But if they continue to progress they way they have been under Kerr they should avoid a thumping tonight.

That’s why results like 2-1 or 3-1 to Serbia (both 12/1) could be good shouts for this evening’s clash.

Both sides won their first games of the season, so it promises to be an eagerly contested affair.

Munich are without the injured Robben but their side has an ominous look about it, especially with World Cup Golden Boot Thomas Muller showing no signs of tiredness in the 2-1 win over Wolfsburg last week.

We can’t believe that Kaiserslautern are 6-1 with most firms to win this and that has to be worth a small investment.

Bayern are 8-15 with Coral, while the draw is 7-2 with totesport, but you should get a good run for your money with Kaiserslautern.

Both sides should get on the scoresheet, so back Daniel Van Buyten at 13-2 with Coral in the anytime scorer market.

Pat’s are around 1-16 for the win, so no bet is advised and although they have been in patchy form, this one won’t give them more than a few tummy flutters.

Bohemians on the other hand could have a rough night of it at home to Shelbourne, who have looked a decent side since Alan Mathews took over the reins.

The Gypsies have steadied the ship with three wins in-a-row but we think Shels can stun them and at 9-1 with bet365 they are well worth a gamble.

Bohs are a best of 4-11 with bwin.com – way too short to lump on – with the draw a reasonable 7-2 with Boyles and Bet365, but we’ll go all out for the shock.

Title favourites Shamrock Rovers look fairly nailed on to win at unimpressive Longford Town. The First Division hosts are 9-1 with bet365 and Boyles, with the Hoops a general 4-11 and some 7-2 available about a draw with Ladbrokes, William Hill and Bet365.

Two Premier Division clubs who could be in a spot of bother are Sporting Fingal and Sligo Rovers. Fingal host a Limerick 37 side who still have realistic promotion aims this season, while Sligo make the short trip to Ballybofey to face Finn Harps.

Liam Buckley’s Fingal are the defending champions and have made retaining their title one of the priorities of their season.

They are a general 1-2 to win tonight with the draw 3-1 with Boylesports and the same firm and Boyles going 13-2 about a Limerick win.

We’ll again be bold and back the outsiders to triumph.

However, we can’t see such an upset at the Harps game, where Sligo are on a solid run in the cups having reached the EA Sports Cup final already.

Back them at 4-7 with Bluesq, 888sport and bwin.com to overcome Harps, who 11-2 with Powers and Bet365, with the draw at 11-4 with bet365.

In the other games, we’ll take a draw at 11-4 in the UCD-Bray match, we’ll go for a Monaghan win at Cork at 19-10 with bet365 and bwin.com and go for Galway to beat neighbours Salthill Devon 3-1 at 12-1 with Ladbrokes.
